Ugandan artist Benard Feni, popularly known as Mungu Feni, has been nominated for the Shining Stars Africa Awards 2026, one of the continent's premier platforms recognizing excellence in the creative and entertainment industry.
Despite spending just three years in the music industry, Feni earned a nomination for Best Star New Gospel Artist of the Year 2025/2026, a testament to his growing influence in gospel music.
Mungu Feni’s music has been widely streamed on international platforms, including Shazam, YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, Audiomack, Tubidy, Boomplay, and Uganda’s Song Boost, where he has amassed over 3 million streams. With a substantial fan base beyond Uganda, the West Nile (Arua)-born singer and entrepreneur is often mistakenly thought to be from West Africa.
Remarkably, Feni is among the first Ugandans to receive an international award nomination without having held a public concert or performance.
The awards, set to take place in Rwanda, honor individuals and organizations shaping Africa’s creative economy. Voting opens February 9 and closes March 7.
Known for his soul-stirring gospel music, Mungu Feni is also a successful businessman and founder of Euro Gold, balancing faith, family, and enterprise with dedication.
Through his Mungu Feni Foundation, an NGO based in West Nile, he has won accolades including Best Community Transformation Organisation in East Africa at the East Africa Brand Quality Awards.
The foundation also won multiple awards at the West Nile Quality Brand Awards 2025, such as the Quality Excellence Award - Platinum, Best Community Development NGO, and Best Local NGO, highlighting its impact on youth and vulnerable communities.
